Music is forever, but so is a CD or DVD in a landfill. You love music very much, and it is a big part of your life. Please remember we can all play a big part in helping our planet by doing little things, like recycling our unwanted discs.

Think about how many discs you use or burn for rehearsing, writing, recording, mixing and mastering. All of these discs have helped complete your musical project by getting it “just right”. These discs will pile up fast and they seriously need to stay out of the trash. Many music lovers also love our environment, so they’ll love you too for seeing you’re being responsible and promoting environmental sustainability.

Here’s a couple things that you can do that will be really cool and help out the environment.

  1. Adopt the CD Recycling logo - When you release your next disc, on the artwork place the CD Recycling logo, and state: This disc is recyclable! Learn how at (photo)

  2. Recycle old, unsold discs - If you have over-manufactured any of your prior releases, and it becomes time to dispose of them, please make sure to recycle them. We offer secure destruction and complete recycling at The CD Recycling Center. All you have to do is send them in. Just one, ten, or even ten million, we can recycle them. As we say, Every Disc Counts.
  3. Recycle your work in progress discs - Take an empty box, and place our sign on it that reads “Recycle bad /unwanted discs here” and place it in your music room. Watch this box fill after a month or sometimes even a week! Please pledge today to never throw a disc in the trash again. It is very harmful to our environment. The best way to have your discs recycled is to send them in to our CD Recycling Center. Sure the postage will cost a little bit, but it’s a small amount to help our planet. Think of it this way…

“In your business, if you use, sell, promote, distribute, or manufacture compact discs, it is your responsibility to promote how to recycle them. Compacts Discs, when recycled properly, will stop unnecessary pollution, conserve natural resources, and help our environmental substantially."

The CD Recycling Center focuses on proper disc collection, sorting, handling and recycling. Our mail-in initiative is important for environmental supporters that recycle their discs, and realize curbside recycling does not properly recycle the #7 plastic that CDs and DVDs are manufactured from. We have zero landfill waste here at the center, and we can achieve this by focusing just on CDs, DVDs and related packaging. Curbside cannot properly collect, sort, store and process a few dozen, hundreds, or even thousands of discs. Since we collect millions, it is very easy for us to successfully recycle them.
